Air Raid Shelter
- POW architects have developed designs to turn one of the original 8 deep-level Air-Raid Shelters in London into a new exhibition space with a cafe. It will also allow provision of shared facilities for the London Transport Museum to run tours of the Air-Raid shelter.
POW architects have developed designs to turn one of the original 8 deep-level Air-Raid Shelters in London into a new exhibition space with a cafe. It will also allow provision of shared facilities for the London Transport Museum to run tours of the Air-Raid shelter.
The former Air-Raid Shelter is located in South-western corner of the historic Clapham Common. Our proposals aim to integrate the Air-Raid Shelter into the existing park structure by creating views into the parkland, analysing existing material palettes, creating sheltered spaces against prevailing winds and carefully selecting suitable plant species. Interpretive artworks will explore the diverse cultural history of the area.
