Team

UrbanPioneers was founded in 2010 by directors Liane Bauer and Marion Preez. Natives of Germany both have worked in lived in Europe and Overseas before finally settling in Scotland. They have both worked in Landscape Architecture for over 10 years and greatly enjoy working in Scotland as well as internationally.

Over the years they have developed strong interest in sustainable design practices and are active members of Spokes, a cycling initiative promoting active travel and cycling in Edinburgh and joined the Tree Design and Action Group to promote the importance of Green Infrastructure to build resilient cities.

Our designs aim to be inclusive and whilst Liane is campaigning for children and young people’s right to play, Marion has developed specialist knowledge in age-related design due to her Associate position at the Dementia Services Development Centre, University of Stirling.
