We started with observations and consultations with pupils and staff exploring the current use of their spaces and the activities they would like to undertake in the future. Working closely with the school and its users helps us to unlock stories and ideas from the pupils but also getting a feeling for the school environment and relationships between each other.

Based on the wider setting (Dyce airport, transport and oil sector links) and pupils ideas we developed a concept of a route (rollercoster, train, flight path…?) with several stops on its way: a unicorn petting zoo, a wishing fountain, a swimming pool, ice cream & cookie stores,…
These new elements allow for creative play but also space to change and add items over time.
