Tree Adoption, Lyne Burn Green Network, Dunfermline
- As part of the Lyne Burn Green Network projected 100+ specimen trees are being planted. All tree planting has been ‘marked’ through brightly pink painted tree stakes to add colour, but also to link together the different areas and spaces were these trees have been planted.
Local residents and businesses can adopt these newly planted trees. Especially the fruit trees within the community garden have been very popular! For each adopted tree a certificate is being made out and an engraved aluminum label with the person who adopted the tree attached to the trees. This way the tree adoption becomes visible to everyone and even can be heard: with the labels blowing in the wind, a calming sound is being emitted.
This adoption scheme creates a positive link to the project, the trees, nature and to reduce any vandalism. So far it has been very successful with 50+ trees already adopted.
Based on the success of the tree adoption scheme as part of this project, Fife Coast and Community Trust are rolling out a tree adoption scheme throughout the Fife Council area.
