High Valleyfield lies within the early 19th century designed landscape, the only Scottish commission of Humphry Repton, and only a few remnants remaining today.
The mining village was established within this landscape to house local miners and their families working at the nearby Valleyfield Colliery.
The entrance to High Valleyfield consists of two greenspaces on either side of the road into the town. Commemorating the miner’s heritage as well as the designed landscape UrbanPioneers prepared concept designs that celebrate both aspects as well as enhancing its aesthetics and biodiversity.
