The Gathering Place, Kilbirnie
- The Gathering Place is a new community hub located within Kilbirnie Project Park, for Project Kilbirnie. The project is about addressing the need for a more informal gathering place within the town – a social space open to everyone that also supports a wider range of activities in the public park.
The Gathering Place is a new community hub located within Kilbirnie Project Park, for Project Kilbirnie. The project is about addressing the need for a more informal gathering place within the town – a social space open to everyone that also supports a wider range of activities in the public park.
Through a series of public consultation events in collaboration with Dress for the Weather we investigated the programme and activities for the new building as well as for the immediate outdoor spaces.
These spaces have been designed to connect the new building to the adjacent buildings, allowing views across the park as well as allowing connections into and through the park. A multi-sports MUGA, climbing rocks, an outdoor gym, skating elements as well as play equipment offer different activities and opportunities at the community hub, as well as leaving space for the unexpected and bringing new life to the park.
